Recollections of WWII
In the United Kingdom, thousands of people have recorded their memories of the War. Recollections of WWII aims promote their stories through providing researchers with a unique directory of oral history collections relating to the Second World War. The stories of child evacuees, survivors of the Holocaust and civilians who experienced the Blitz of British cities are featured in many of these collections. The experiences of men who served in the Army, Royal Navy, RAF and Merchant Navy, and women in the WAAF, WRNS, ATS and Land Army are well represented in collections large and small.
La bataille de Lorraine
The Battle of Lorraine is one of the least known battles of the Second World War, yet it is one of the largest and most deadly. Having long trampled in Normandy, the Allies arrive early September in the Lorraine. They carry some of their toughest fights: the crossing of the Moselle near Pont-à-Mousson, to fighting through the Foret de Parroy, through the famous battle tanks of Arracourt...the Allies, especially the Americans experiencing extreme combat conditions and losses greater than those recorded in Normandy.
VI Corps Combat Engineers
A great site featuring information regarding the 36th (2826th, 2827th & 2828th), 39th, 540th (2832nd & 2833rd) and the 1108th (48th & 235th) Combat Engineer Regiments, who bravely fought against the Axis powers from North Africa into Sicily, Italy, France, Central Europe and ended their tour of duty in Germany in 1945. Dedicated to Walter (Monday) Poniedzialek , of the 540th and all the other outstanding engineers of VI Corps.

The American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) was established by Congress in 1923 to commemorate the service, sacrifice and achievements of U.S. Armed Forces where they have served overseas since 1917, and within the U.S. when directed by public law.
